Hawai‘i Chapter, American Guild of Organists (AGO)


The Hawai‘i Chapter of the AGO a group of about 50 organists in Hawai‘i with members on O‘ahu, the Big Island, Maui, and Kaua‘i. They are one chapter in an international organization, the American Guild of Organists, which has almost 20,000 members. This local chapter is especially proud of its scholarship program which, to date, has helped to provide organ lessons for over 60 students, ensuring the future of organ playing in Hawai‘i.

Yuri McCoy originally came to Honolulu to earn a graduate degree in piano performance and served as organ scholar of St. Andrewʻs Cathedral under Canon Director of Music John Renke. This concert marks his return to Hawaiʻi now as a rising star in organ performance. Currently a doctoral student at the Shepherd School of Music, Rice University in Houston, he is studying with organist Ken Cowan.
