Story-telling is a magical Hawaiian tradition. The OCS Chamber Choir and Hawai‘i Youth Opera Chorus tell the story of creation in the premiere of Herb Mahelona’s Kinohi. Hawaiian composer Herb Mahelona has spun an imaginative musical story in Hawaiian using traditional Hawaiian instruments. This premiere will also feature multi-media elements, hula, and soloists.

Story-telling is a magical Hawaiian tradition. The O‘ahu Choral Society Chamber Choir joins forces with director and master of Hawaiian music, Nola Nāhulu. Three of her Hawaiian choruses along with Hawai‘i Youth Opera Chorus tell the story of Creation in this world premiere of Herb Mahelona’s oratorio, Kinohi. Mahelona spins an imaginative musical story in Hawaiian using traditional Hawaiian instruments. This premiere will features hula and soloists in historic Kawaiaha‘o Church.
